In a press release today, July 30th, the US Trade Representative (USTR) confirmed it is still reviewing the more than 1100 comments that were submitted by the public in response to the proposed increase that was outlined in late May of this year.
Under the framework of the original proposal, some 365 products were scheduled to increase on August 1, 2024 from 7.5% to 25%, 50% or 100% tariff when made in China. The USTR expects to finalize its review and post the final determination sometime in August 2024. The resulting changes will become effective within 2 weeks of that publication.
