Late Friday afternoon, the Department of Commerce announced it will add 407 HTS codes to the steel and aluminum derivative products lists. For these products, Section 232 tariffs will apply only to the steel and aluminum content at a rate of 50%. Any non-steel and non-aluminum content will remain subject to reciprocal and other applicable tariffs.
Commerce decided not to add another 60 HTS codes, as those remain under other ongoing investigations under Section 232 or other trade statutes.
The Section 232 duties for the newly listed HTS codes will take effect 12:01 a.m. EST on August 18, 2025.
The complete details and full list of added HTS codes are available in the annexes of the official notice: Federal Register Notice
