US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) published a reminder to its CTPAT members to take appropriate measures to prevent the import of narcotics and counterfeit goods this holiday season. With the massive increase in ecommerce this year, it is even more of a risk for such illegal activity to occur within the supply chain. Counterfeit sales not only undermine the legitimate brand owner, causing damage to their business, but pose a safety hazard to consumers, and promote the illegal activities of terrorist groups, as well as those involved in money laundering and human trafficking.  The details of the alert can be found HERE.

CTPAT participants agree to develop and maintain robust strategies and security measures that work to prevent such risks within the supply chain.  For more information, see https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/cargo-security/ctpat or ask one of our consultants.
